Qutub Minar
Qutub Minar, located in Delhi, is the tallest minaret in India with a height of 72.5 metres (237.8 ft). A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Qutub Minar is made of red sandstone and marble. The minaret, originally an ancient Islamic Monument constructed during reign of the Slave Dynasty, is covered with intricate carvings and verses from the Holy Qur'an. 

The construction of Qutub Minar was started by the first Sultan of Delhi and the founder of the Slave Dynasty, Qutub-ud-din Aibak, in 1192 AD and was carried on by his successor, Iltutmish. The fifth and the last storey was constructed by Firoz Shah Tughlak in 1368 AD. The stairs of the tower has 379 steps. The tower has a base diameter of 14.3 metres that narrows to 2.7 metres at the top.

Qutub Minar is surrounded by several other ancient and medieval structures and ruins, collectively known as the Qutub complex.

There is 7 m (23 ft) high Iron Pillar, notable for its rust-resistant composition of the metals, located in the Qutub complex and carrying a number of inscriptions and graffiti of different dates. The oldest inscription on the pillar is in Sanskrit, written in Gupta-period Brahmi script, which dates back to the 4th century AD.
